Directions To Bar Harbor*

Option 1:         Approx. time & miles:  4 hours, 30 minutes – 240 miles.

Follow I-95 N onto the Maine Turnpike.  I-95 and the Maine Turnpike separate just north of Portland. Both I-95 and the Maine Turnpike merge to become Rt. 495 heading towards Augusta.  Once in Augusta, follow I-95 to Bangor.  Take Exit 182A onto Rt. 395, then to Rt. 1A towards Ellsworth.  In Ellsworth, Rt. 1A & Rt. 3 merge to become one road.  Following Rt. 3, proceed to Mt. Desert Island/ Bar Harbor.

Option 2:                  Approx. time & miles:  4 hours, 30 minutes – 215 miles.

Follow I-95 N onto the Maine Turnpike.  I-95 and the Maine Turnpike separate just north of Portland. Both I-95 and the Maine Turnpike merge to become Rt. 495 heading towards Augusta.  In Augusta take Exit 109 Northbound onto Rt. 3 East towards Belfast.  In Belfast, Rt. 3 & Rt. 1 merge and lead to Ellsworth. In Ellsworth, continue on Rt. 3 to Bar Harbor.

Option 3:                  Approx. time and miles:  5 hours, 30 minutes – 215 miles.

Follow Rt. 1 north to Ellsworth, then to Rt. 3 to Bar Harbor.

Option 4:            Approx. time and miles:  5 hours, (allow extra time in summer).

Follow I-95 onto the Maine Turnpike.  Take Exit 44 onto Rt. 295 Northbound.  OR take Exit 52 to I-295 Northbound (via I-95/I-295 connector).  Take Exit 28 or Exit 31 to Rt.1 north to Ellsworth, then to Rt. 3 to Bar Harbor.

Once you get to Mt. Desert Island/ Bar Harbor, you will cross a bridge.  Ahead, you will come to a fork in the road; there is a gas station there as well.  Bear left at the fork and proceed approx. 6.5 miles.  The High Seas will be on your left!
